Training

Workshops for people who want to report with care

I train journalists, students and the organisations that work with them to see the people they overlook, and to report on them fairly, accurately and safely.

My workshops are practical. People work on real stories, their own when possible, and leave with tools they can use straight away.

01 / Workshops

What I teach

Each workshop is adapted to the group: their experience, their beat and the stories they're working on.

Accredited · Solutions Journalism Network

Solutions journalism

How to report rigorously on how people respond to problems, not only on the problems themselves: what's being tried, what evidence there is that it works, and its limits.

Accredited · Solutions Journalism Network

Complicating the Narratives

How to report on divisive issues without flattening them into two sides: better questions, deeper listening, and stories that leave room for complexity.

Accredited · European Federation of Journalists and Cadre Consultant

Journalists' safety

Risk assessment for journalists, whether they're reporting at home or in conflict zones: how to anticipate risks, prepare, and look after yourself and the people you work with.

Taught at university since 2022

Constructive conflict reporting

How to cover social and armed conflict in a way that's people-centred, inclusive and solutions-oriented, focusing on human experiences as well as events.

02 / Made for you

Or a training built around your team

If none of these fits exactly, tell me what your team needs. I'll design a session around your people, your topics and the stories you cover.

  1. 01

    We talk

About who'll be in the room, what they already know and what you'd like them to leave with.

  2. 02

    I design it

A session built on examples from your region, your beat and your audience.

  3. 03

    We run it

In person or online, in English, French or Spanish.

03 / Formats

How we can work

One workshop

A focused session, in person or online.

Two sessions

With time in between for people to try what they've learned on a real story.

A programme

Several sessions over a few weeks, for teams that want to go further.

A university course

Classes and workshops for journalism students, as I've taught to master's students since 2022.

04 / Who I train

Who I work with

Newsrooms

Reporters and editors who want to change how their coverage sees people.

Universities

Master's students at French universities since 2022, in solutions journalism, journalists' safety, constructive conflict reporting and planetary challenges.

Unions and media organisations

Including mentoring representatives of European public broadcasters and journalists' unions for the International Federation of Journalists' Rewrite the Story project.

NGOs and foundations

Teams who work with journalists, or tell stories about the communities they serve.

05 / Questions

Questions you might have

Which languages do you train in?

English, French and Spanish.

In person or online?

Both. I'm often on the move, so get in touch to see if I'm passing through your city soon, and if I'm not, maybe we can make it happen.

What are your fees?

They depend on the format, the length and any travel. I adapt for non-profits, community organisations and small teams, so please don't let budget stop you from asking.

Can you combine topics?

Yes. Many of these work well together, for example solutions journalism with constructive conflict reporting. Tell me what you have in mind.

06 / Plan a training

Let's plan a training

Tell me about your team and what you'd like them to leave with. Even if it's early days, I'm happy to think it through with you.

For a training, it helps to know

  • 01 · Who'll attend, and their experience
  • 02 · Roughly how many people
  • 03 · What you'd like them to leave with
  • 04 · Dates, place or online
  • 05 · Language: EN, FR or ES

I'm often on the road, so it might take me a little while to get back to you, but I'll read your message and answer as soon as I can
